Course Contents

• Week 1: Introduction, Northwestern (Rías Baixas, Ribeira Sacra, Ribeiro, Valdeorras, Bierzo, Ribera del Duero, Rueda & Toro) & Northeastern  (Txakoli Region, Rioja, Navarra, Campo de Borja, Cava, Montsant, Penedès & Priorat) Spain
• Week 2: Southern Spain, the Canary Islands (La Mancha, Vinos de Madrid, Utiel-Requena, Jumilla, Málaga & Las Islas Canarias) & Sherry
• Week 3: Exam: 45 Minute, 50 multiple choice question paper

No previous experience or knowledge is necessary. However, in addition to the classroom sessions, it is also recommended you do at least 10-13 hours of private study on top, to ensure you perform well in the exam & get the most out of the course.

The exam consists of a 50 multiple choice question paper, to be completed in 45 minutes. A score of 60% or higher (30+ questions correct) is required to pass the qualification. It covers topics like Spanish wine regions, grape varieties, winemaking techniques, and the cultural and historical context of Spanish wine.

2.5 full day class version, spread over 3 consecutive weeks (plus some self guided learning of 10-13 hours) – meaning there’s minimal commitment unlike when studying for a degree or a masters. You don’t need to have completed a WSET course either, these are completely standalone and focus on the wine regions of Spain. There’s no tasting exam or focus on tasting technique either.
