This course is great if you’re interested in the wines of Spain: Whether for your career or just curious. Great for those studying, or have passed the WSET Level 2 & 3 Wines or higher- Though no prior knowledge or qualifications are required.

Event Details

  • 5 consecutive week classroom based format. 1 Day each week on the same day.
  • Classroom times: 10am-5.30pm each teaching week. 11am-12.30pm for exam week.
  • Taste over 40 tasting samples from all the major regions of Spain, including unconventional wines not studied on WSET Levels 1-3 courses
  • Student textbook, access to WSG eLearning modules & First attempt at paper based exam included

 

Course Dates

Please note we use several venues in Manchester city centre for courses, based on room availability. The venue will be confirmed in the welcome email sent around 10 days before the start date.

Course Contents
  • Week 1 – Introduction & Green Spain (Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria, País Vasco). The Duero Valley (Ribera del Duero, Rueda & Toro).
  • Week 2 – La Rioja & Ebro River Valley (Navarra, Aragón). Cataluña & Central Mediterranean Coast (Valencia, Murcia).
  • Week 3 – The Meseta (Castilla-La Mancha, Madrid, Extremadura).
  • Week 4 – Andalucía & Sherry. The Islands (Balearic/Canary Islands). Review/revision.
  • Week 5 – 1 hour Exam–100 question multiple choice paper.

 

The course ends in an exam which must be taken in person in. It is a 60 minute, 100 question multiple-choice exam and you must score 75% or above to pass. Those who pass will get a certificate and lapel pin and the right to use the SWS post nominal.

We use several venues in Manchester city centre for our classroom courses. The location will be finalised closer to the date of your course, and send in your welcome and directions email around 7-10 days before the start date.
