This is a condensed/intensive 3 consecutive day version of the course, and is taught in Manchester. Your book is posted in advance, and the majority of the required 12 hours of personal study must have been completed in advance of the start date to be successful.

A 3 consecutive day, condensed course for those looking to do the qualification in a short space of time. Class times 10:00am-5.30pm.
Please note: This is a condensed 3 day version of the course with the exam at the end of the 3rd day. To pass successfully, you will be required to undertake most of you your 12 hours of private study in advance!

What’s covered?
- The main ingredients used in beer production, how they are processed and their influence on the style of beer produced.
Malt and adjuncts, water, hops and other flavourings, yeast and bacteria - How beer production influences the style and quality of beer: alcoholic fermentation process, brewing process, brewing equipment, beer production options, spontaneous and mixed culture fermentation options.
- The key principles and processes involved in the storage and service of beer: Ideal conditions for storage, packaging and shelf life, service temperatures, glassware, beer on tap, bottled beer, common faults, beer and food.
- How over 60 beer styles are produced and labelled and their typical characteristics: Malt-driven lagers, malt-driven ales, hop-driven lagers, hop-driven ales, yeast-driven ales, mixed fermentation styles, other speciality beers.
You’ll taste at least 24 beers, covering a range of styles.
The course ends in an exam which must be taken in person (if studying online or self-study, the exam takes place in Manchester). It is a 1 hour, 50 question multiple-choice exam and you must score 55% or above to pass.
You will be sent the WSET Level 2 Beer textbook, a manual and SAT tasting card.
You also have free access to our WSET Spirits 2 study guides so you can consolidate your learning and practice before the day. The exam will take place on the last day of the course. Those who pass will get a digital certificate, which you can print or share a direct link to with employers.

The Castlefield Hotel is located next to the Castlefield Bowl Arena, a short walk from Deansgate Castlefield Metrolink and rail station. We are normally in the Bridgewater Suite, which is to the right of reception.
