Who Are The Wine Society?

Thinking of Joining a Wine Club? How About The Wine Society?

You have probably seen adverts and received mail shots from some of the big players like Virgin and Laithwaites. Their opening offers for new members are certainly very tempting!

Before jumping in think about this possibility-The Wine Society. They are a cooperative established in 1874 to “Buy direct from the growers” and “To offer wines to members at fair prices”.  The only disadvantage we can see is that you have to pay for a single share of the Society to become a lifetime member. Currently this is £40 but £10 (or £20 in the run up to Christmas) of this goes towards your first order and includes preferential free delivery (normally on orders of £75 or more) for 6 months.

However there are many advantages, including absolutely no sales pressure. Nor is there any  obligation to buy, just occasional brochures with current offers. You can confidently expect good value wines. They offer 200 wines at £7.95 or less  the time of writing!

We will be using two of their sparkling wines in this pre – Christmas course. A Californian and Tasmanian fizz.
