WSET Level 1 Award in Spirits 1 Day Course | Manchester

A 1 day classroom based course. No previous knowledge or experience required. You will be given the WSET Level 1 workbook containing everything you need to know to pass and we supply the spirits samples that you will be tasting.
Description
Learn about the fundamentals of how distillation works, the main categories of spirit (Cognac, whisk(e)y, rum, vodka, Tequila, gin & flavoured spirits/liqueurs) as well as the basics of cocktail making and proper storage and service etiquette.
Your student workbook will be provided at the start of the day. The course ends in an exam which must be taken in person on the day. It is a 30 question multiple-choice exam and you must score 70% (21 marks out of 30) or above to pass.
Don’t worry, you will be taught everything you need to know by your expert tutor! Those who pass will get a digital certificate, which you can print or share a direct link to with employers.

Funding for this course
DEVELOP is the newly launched educational programme of The Drinks Trust, the drinks and hospitality industry charity. DEVELOP offers fully funded training and skills courses, delivered by industry-leading providers for people already working, or with an ambition to work, in the drinks and hospitality industry. Northern Wine School has partnered with The Drinks Trust to bring courses free of charge to eligible students.
An application and approval must be made with the Drinks Trust directly. We cannot register candidates for courses and apply for funding retrospectively, sorry.

Criteria of eligibility for DEVELOP:
- Must be 18 or over
- Eligible to work in the UK
- Working in, or aspire to work in Hospitality
- Have a National Insurance Number, and be earning less than £26k/pa
