The Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET)
This is probably the most recognised qualification in the world of wines and spirits – level one can be completed in just one-day course, up to the more advanced and level three in a six week course if you choose to study at one of our classroom sessions. WSET Level 1 Courses
Entry level foundation courses. A beginner level introduction to wine, spirits and Sake suitable for those starting a wine career or pursuing an interest in wine. They can be completed in a short space of time, from 1 day for the in person classroom, to 4 weeks online. They’re open to everyone, so no previous qualifications or experience are necessary to enrol.
WSET Level 1 Award in Wines

This is your entry level course – great for those starting their wine journey, whether that’s a career or simply an interest. You’ll learn how to taste, about grape varieties, regions and climates as well as how to pair food and wine.
An introduction to spirits – great for those with an interest or if you’re starting a career in the industry. You’ll learn about types and styles of spirits as well as the factors affecting flavour and aroma.
This course is ideal to kickstart your career or simply to expand your knowledge. Discover the brewing process, serving techniques, key types, styles and flavours, and master the art of describing the taste of beer.
A great introduction to sake: whether it’s for your career or you’d just like to know more. You’ll learn how sake is made, how to serve it, the main types, styles and flavour, and you’ll also learn how to describe the taste.

Suitable for those starting a wine career or pursuing an interest in wine. They can be completed from 3 weeks for the in person classroom, to 5 weeks online. WSET Level 2 Award in Wines

An intermediate level course. You don’t need to have taken level one, nor do you need any experience; however, it is designed for industry professionals and those with a really keen interest in wine. You will learn about a wide range of wines.
Spirits and liqueurs for those in the industry or people with a really keen interest. Develop your knowledge and skills – you’ll learn about how spirits are made, how to serve them and how to use them in cocktails.
A mid-level course suitable for industry professionals and beer enthusiasts. No prior experience or completion of level one is required. You will explore a diverse array of beers.
An advanced courses in wine, spirits and Sake. A detailed understanding of production methods, and their impact on flavours, quality and price of the major styles of product. Suitable for those developing their career or pursuing a really keen interest in wine, spirits or Sake. They can be completed from 6 weeks for the classroom courses. This is a challenging course, and it is recommended students hold the WSET Level 2 and/or substantial existing relevant experience and knowledge already.
WSET Level 3 Award in Wines

The advanced level – it is recommended that you hold a WSET Level 2 award or have a very good knowledge of wine. You will gain a really deep understanding of grape growing and wine making, including sampling over 80 wines.

French Wine Scholar

A short, fun course accredited by the Sake Sommelier Academy and delivered by a Certified Sake Sommelier. Great for those who are interested in furthering their knowledge about sake. The first step into the world of the sake sommelier.
This is a two-day course held over two weeks and ends in an exam. Those who pass will become qualified sake sommeliers and awarded a certificate from The Sake Sommelier Association. Great for professionals and those who are simply sake fans.
